Highlights:

• Revenue for the six months ended 30 September 2022 (the “Reporting Period”) increased by approximately 80.4% from that for the six months ended 30 September 2021 (the “Corresponding Period”) to approximately HK$411.8 million.
• Gross profit for the Reporting Period increased by approximately 92.9% from the Corresponding Period to approximately HK$67.1 million.
• Profit for the Reporting Period increased by approximately 162.1% to approximately HK$13.2 million as compared to the Corresponding Period. Excluding one-off professional fees of approximately HK$3.1 million in relation to the acquisition of 70% of the issued share capital of ServiceOne International Holdings Limited recorded in the Corresponding Period and the COVID-19 government subsidies of approximately HK$4.7 million received from various governments during the Reporting Period, the adjusted profit for the Reporting Period amounted to approximately HK$8.4 million, representing an increase of approximately 3.5% from HK$8.1 million in Corresponding Period.
• Basic earnings per share increased by approximately 120.6% from approximately HK0.63 cent for the Corresponding Period to approximately HK1.39 cents for the Reporting Period.

Highlights:

• Revenue for the three months ended 30 June 2022 (the “Reporting Period”) increased by approximately 56.7% from that for the three months ended 30 June 2021 (the “Corresponding Period”) to approximately HK$181.5 million.
• Gross profit for the Reporting Period increased by approximately 84.3% from the Corresponding Period to approximately HK$31.9 million.
• Profit for the period attributable to owners of the Company for the Reporting Period increased by approximately 16.0% to approximately HK$4.7 million as compared to the Corresponding Period. Excluding the government subsidy of HK$1.9 million from the Employment Support Scheme under the Anti-Epidemic Fund recognised for the Reporting Period, the adjusted profit attributable to owners of the Company for the Reporting Period amounted to HK$2.8 million (the Corresponding Period: HK$4.0 million), representing a decrease of approximately 31.7% as compared with that of the Corresponding Period.
• Basic earnings per share increased by approximately 16.0% from approximately HK0.50 cent for the Corresponding Period to approximately HK0.58 cent for the Reporting Period.

Expert Systems is pleased to announce our establishment of Expert AI Enabling Limited, the joint venture company, with Dr. Keith C C Chan, on 21 June 2022.  Expert AI Enabling Limited will develop and provide products, tools, solutions, services, and trainings to enable the use of artificial intelligence.  Given the strong usage demand for artificial intelligence by the market, the establishment of Expert AI Enabling Limited align the growth strategy of the Group.

Dr. Keith C C Chan graduated with a B.Math. (Hons.) degree in Computer Science and Statistics and a M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Soon after graduation, he joined the IBM Canada Laboratory in Toronto, Canada, as a software analyst, developing multimedia and software engineering tools, he returned to the academia to join Ryerson University in Toronto and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he worked for 25 years. From 2002 to 2008, he served as Head of its Department of Computing. His research interests are in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Bioinformatics and Software Engineering. He has authored and co-authored three books and over 300 publications in journals and conference proceedings and had also been serving actively as program committee member of over 20 international conferences annually. He has been active in technology transfer through consulting and contract research and is ranked among the top 2% of scientists in the world in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing on Stanford University’s list.

Our revenues and gross profit continued to grow, and gross profit margin continued to improve for the nine months ended 31 December 2021.  We delivered strong growth of 36.3% in Adjusted Net Profit after excluding the effect of acquisition-related expenses and government subsidy under the Anti-Epidemic Fund.  Since 8 October 2021, the performance of ServiceOne International Holdings Limited (“S1IHL”) has been consolidated into our financial statements.

Highlights:

• Revenue for the nine months ended 31 December 2021 (the “Reporting Period”) increased by approximately 12.9% from that for the nine months ended 31 December 2020 (the “Corresponding Period”) to approximately HK$441.8 million.
• Gross profit for the Reporting Period increased by approximately 40.5% from the Corresponding Period to approximately HK$71.6 million.
• Profit for the period attributable to owners of the Company for the Reporting Period dropped by approximately 21.6% to approximately HK$12.5 million as compared to the Corresponding Period. Excluding the legal and professional fees of HK$3.1 million for the very substantial acquisition (the Acquisition as defined in Note 4 under Notes to the Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements) recognised for the Reporting Period and the government subsidy of HK$4.5 million from the Employment Support Scheme under the Anti-Epidemic Fund recognised for the Corresponding Period, the adjusted profit attributable to owners of the Company for the Reporting Period amounted to HK$15.6 million (the Corresponding Period: HK$11.5 million (adjusted)), representing an increase of approximately 36.3% as compared with that of the Corresponding Period.
• Basic earnings per share decreased by approximately 21.6% from approximately HK1.99 cents for the Corresponding Period to approximately HK1.56 cents for the Reporting Period.
